After the Party and Tours

Even after Mardi Gras, the Superdome, the tours, music, and restaurants, New Orleans still has some activities and entertainment to offer. This city of a half million people has a very rich cultural life. Additionally, the Louisiana Superdome complex now includes the New Orleans Arena, home to professional hockey, basketball, concerts, and large arena shows.

For Foodies

You can take a cooking class at the New Orleans School of Cooking, Cookin' Cajun, or the cooking class that follows a tour of Mardi Gras World. Then you can enjoy dining on what you’ve cooked. Culinary tours of the French Quarter restaurants are both palate pleasing and educational.

In addition to the restaurants, the French Market, and other food-focused opportunities, you shouldn’t pass by a taste of the pralines, the favorite confection made with locally grown pecans. Follow your nose to the praline shop. Or look for the King Cake, the Mardi Gras favorite baked with a small crown inside.

The Riverboat Casinos and Harrah’s

If you’re interested, you can try your luck at the casinos, Harrah’s and Bally's Belle of Orleans riverboat. Right in the center of Downtown, Harrah’s offers casino games, food, and entertainment 24 hours a day. The Belle is on the riverfront and is also open 24 hours a day with casino games, food, and entertainment.

For the Shopper

After you’ve seen all the French Quarter shops, the Riverwalk mall, and the Canal St. Shops, you may still enjoy Magazine St. with its six miles of shopping and browsing opportunities. There are shops at the New Orleans Superdome Centre Mall next to the Superdome. And all the museums in the city, including the D-Day and the Children’s Museum have gift shops filled with specialty items, books, posters, and items to remember your New Orleans holiday.

For the Sports Lover

In addition to the professional and university team and their sporting events, visitors may avail themselves of opportunities to go charter fishing, golfing, boating, and to play tennis.
